Compare BTC Yield Platforms in 2026: Rates, Custody, and Risk
Compare BTC yield at XORA, Nexo, and YouHodler with Ledn and Bitcoin self-custody: rate conditions, withdrawal rules, and custody risk.
Bitcoin does not pay interest for holding BTC. A BTC yield account adds a separate source of return and a separate risk. XORA, Nexo, and YouHodler offer custodial earning products where eligible; Ledn ended BTC Growth Account interest in 2025. Holding bitcoin in your own wallet earns no native yield but keeps control of the keys with you.
Rates checked 2026-10-27
This comparison uses the official product and protocol sources listed below. XORA publishes this guide and is one of the providers compared. Competitor rates depend on the account, country, balance, and product term; the table does not treat a marketing maximum as a rate every depositor receives. Recheck the account quote before transferring BTC.
XORA: a Bitcoin address does not mean self-custody
XORA allocates a native SegWit Bitcoin deposit address to each user, so BTC needs no memo or destination tag. XORA controls those keys and sweeps deposits into pooled treasury custody. Only send native BTC on Bitcoin when the app enables the rail. The subsidy is finite, rates can change, and yield credits depend on treasury verification and fee reserves. A successful deposit does not guarantee a future withdrawal.
Nexo, YouHodler, and the Ledn product change
Nexo lists BTC earning products with flexible and fixed terms, with top rates tied to its current eligibility and loyalty conditions. YouHodler lists a BTC yield account with reward levels and account requirements. Both require custody of deposited BTC. Ledn says BTC and ETH Growth Accounts stopped earning interest on July 1, 2025; its Bitcoin-backed loans are borrowing products, not a replacement BTC savings yield.
Compare the BTC you can withdraw
Check whether rewards arrive in BTC or another token, whether the rate is APR or APY, and whether compounding is available. Include withdrawal charges and any cost of qualifying for a higher tier. Self-custody has key-loss and transaction risks but no lender repayment dependency. For a custodial account, inspect withdrawal terms and counterparty disclosures even when the advertised rate is high.
BTC yield and custody comparison
| Option | Return basis | Access and costs | Custody and risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| XORA | Up to 14% variable APY value where enabled; bootstrap BTC yield plus estimated XORA rewards | App eligibility; withdrawal and treasury controls; check current fee quote | Custodial pooled treasury; subsidy sustainability and reward valuation risk |
| Nexo | Account-specific BTC earn rate; verify flexible or fixed term | Country and loyalty conditions; check term and withdrawal fees | Custodial lender; counterparty and withdrawal risk |
| YouHodler | BTC yield account; rate depends on reward level | Check account requirements, balance limits, and fees | Custodial platform; counterparty and withdrawal risk |
| Ledn | BTC Growth interest ended July 1, 2025 | A Bitcoin-backed loan charges borrowing interest | Loan collateral custody and liquidation risk; not BTC earn |
| Bitcoin self-custody | No native holding yield | Network fees when sending; no lender lock-up | You control the keys; key loss, scams, and BTC price risk |
XORA advertises up to 14% variable APY value on BTC where enabled in-app. That headline includes estimated XORA reward value as well as native BTC yield funded by a bootstrap treasury subsidy. XORA is not currently a tradable token, and the headline is not a guaranteed BTC return. Custody and withdrawal risks remain.
Checklist
- Confirm that the provider accepts your country and offers BTC earning to your account.
- Record the BTC rate, reward currency, balance cap, term, and withdrawal costs.
- Read the custody and yield-source disclosures, including any treasury subsidy.
- If choosing XORA, copy your own native SegWit address from the enabled BTC deposit screen.
- Test a small deposit and a withdrawal before committing a larger amount.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I stake native Bitcoin for yield?
Bitcoin uses mining rather than proof-of-stake. Merely holding BTC in a wallet earns no protocol yield. A service offering a BTC return adds lending, a subsidy, or another financial arrangement with its own risks.
Does Ledn still pay BTC Growth interest?
No. Ledn says BTC and ETH Growth interest ended on July 1, 2025. Its Bitcoin-backed loans let customers borrow against BTC and should not be counted as interest earned on a BTC deposit.
Is XORA BTC yield paid entirely in bitcoin?
The up to 14% APY value headline includes native BTC yield and estimated XORA reward value. XORA is not currently a tradable token. Check the app for the current breakdown; neither the rate nor the reward value is guaranteed.
Does an individual XORA Bitcoin address give me the private key?
No. The address attributes a deposit to your account. XORA holds the keys and maintains the custodial balance, so a per-user address does not remove platform risk.
